Hampshire Company, the world's leading developer and supplier of universal touch screen controller electronics and software has announced the release of their new "C-Ray" Capacitive touch screen controller board and associated embedded chip set.
After three years of extensive development, testing and strategic customer evaluations, Hampshire's new C-Ray controller is ready for prime time. As with every controller that Hampshire has released over the past 13 years, this controller is a truly universal controller developed to support all capacitive touch screens regardless of manufacture or construction.
The C-Ray has been evaluated in combination with a large variety of touch screens including standard Microtouch™ and Microtouch™ type touch screen constructions and materials, with and without back shield, various: linearization patterns, ITO and ATO conductives, large and small form factor, varying SiO2 thickness, as well as printed and sprayed dielectric hard coats. In all test cases the C-Ray has performed as well or better than the competition with the added benefit of insuring the customer has multiple sources for their touch screen overlay solutions.
It is jumper configurable for RS-232 or USB communications as well as 5-byte (Microtouch™) RS-232 communications. The controller also supports all three industry standard touch screen pin-outs.
The form factor is compatible with other industry standards and bridge building legacy support drivers are also available to help make migration from a non-universal controller to the Hampshire TSHARC product.
It comes with Hampshire's extensive TSHARC™ driver set which has been updated to support both analog resistive and the new C-Ray functionality. And, as always, this solution has been developed, tested and is supported in-house by Hampshire engineers at Hampshire Company.
